Sorry for the Silence

Please be advised that I am still here.  I have several blog posts in process but I just haven't gotten around to them yet.  See you soon.

Farewell Leymasters

My friend Shay organized a great farewell shindig for the Leymaster family who recently moved to Boston.  Our family was so blessed to become friends with them.

Anne was the brains behind the co-op preschool Piper goes to.  She was also my visiting teacher and a crackerjack one at that.  Dave was Rick's go-to sport-watching buddy.  Piper loved Ellie and I can just hear her yell Ellie's name whenever she saw her.

Piper insisted that we were each going to only miss our counterpart: Rick would miss Dave, I would miss Anne, Piper would miss Ellie, and Simon would miss Hank.  Such a funny girl.

We miss you Leymasters, all of you!  We'll be sure to visit.

Here are pictures from the party. Anne, let me know the photos aren't hi-res enough when you click on them.

More Simon Pics

Simon is such a smiley guy.  I can't believe he's seven months already.

Budding Artist/Chef

Piper likes to draw animals in the "Adventure Journal" that she got from some fast food place.  She takes it to the zoo with her and on Sunday drives to look for wild animals.

One day last week I found Piper sketching a bird in the front yard in her journal.  I love that she is still wearing my chef's hat from dress-up.  I had thought that she had brought a chair with her too but she hadn't.  I then gave her one.  Her impromptu sketching session came to an end when I saw that she had drawn on the windowsill too.  It was cute while it lasted.

Last Ballet Class

We got pics of Piper at her last ballet class.  This is right before her friend Ellie moved to Boston.  She had such fun having Ellie and Carlee in the class with her.  We miss you Ellie!

Such sweet girls

Train Ride

Here's Piper taking a ride on the Easter train at the mall.  Toot-toot!

A Few Things to Be Grateful For Today

  1. Simon woke at 7 o'clock which meant that I woke up at seven.  With no plans for the morning I was surprised to be dressed and ready with Simon dressed at ready by eight o'clock.  Piper woke up just as I was dressing.  It was nice to be ready before the day really started.
  2. Some friends gave us a bookshelf when they moved a few weeks back.  We put it in Piper's room and it looks great filled with books that had previously been in boxes.
  3. Guardian angels and attentive drivers on the freeway
  4. The slow burn I'm going to fill in my thighs tomorrow from going up and down our stairs today because Simon was cranky at bedtime and it was laundry day.
  5. Simon is sleeping unswaddled and he finally fell asleep on his own after putting up a fuss for two hours.
  6. Piper's cute new summer PJs
  7. Easter is over, which means that I don't have to endure the "how many more days until Easter" question any more.  Actually, it's now "how many more days until my birthday" or "how many more days until we have Easter again."
  8. Daffodils in the front yard
  9. My mom and aunts are coming for a visit
  10. A clean house.  Thanks Tiffany!
BONUS: Watching General Conference on Saturday night on my own while baking lemon pound cake.  A few tears were shed and my spirit was edified.  Why don't I watch sessions of conference when the kids are sleeping more often?!
