Day of Gratitude #5
1. My mom who entertains, feeds, clothes, and changes my children. And she cleans and does laundry! She knows just what I need and how to do it. I swear my kids have more fun with her than me.
2. My kids were well-behaved today. Simon even slept from 7:30pm to 6:00 am this morning without a peep. And then he slept with us until 8:30am. Piper was so excited to ride her bike with grandma.
3. Knotts Berry Farm tomorrow. It's been way too long since my last visit.
4. New bed, new desk, new bookshelf. I'm not grateful for the dent our wallet took but it's nice to have places to put your stuff.
5. The weekend is here.

Today - November 3rd
Today I am grateful for:
1. Our nice landlords. They live upstairs and are so kind to us. They let Piper come over this afternoon so I could rest. They even fed her which was a bonus since I didn't have dinner plans.
2. New friends. One new friend had Simon come play at her house today. Her daughter is the same age and I think he had a fun time. Another new friend offered to bring us dinner tomorrow. So wonderful.
3. My in-laws. They are coming this weekend to visit. It should be lots of fun. Let's hope I'm feeling better in order to enjoy it all.
4. Good books. I'm currently reading "Anne of Ingleside" by L. M. Montgomery. I've had it forever but hadn't gotten around to it. I love reading books by such good writers. It's been good for me to read some fiction again too as I've mostly been reading parenting books lately.
5. El Pollo Loco. I love me that chicken. Oh, and it reminds me of daddy/daughter dates I had growing up.

Day Numero Dos
I have the flu. I've been fighting it off and thought it was a cough. But then came the chills and the upset stomach. Setting that up as my backstory, here's what I'm grateful for today.
1. A loving husband who came home early to watch the kids for me. He got them dinner and put them to bed. He made sure I had what I needed and even did the disgusting dishes that have been sitting there for three days, because I've been sick.
2. A wonderful mother who convinced me to go the doctor and was planning to come to my house to watch my kids until Rick was able to come home.
3. Good health insurance. We're on COBRA right now from Rick's last job, which his former employer covers for three months. It's seriously awesome.
4. Smiles and cuddles from my sweet boy. He is such a happy kid most of the time. He gives great hugs, even though I know that part of the attraction for him is that he can stroke my long hair. I even secretly love that he got upset when Rick went to put him to bed; he just loves mama that much.
5. Piper is such a smart girl. She asks the most interesting questions and sees things in such a unique way. She also tells me all the time that she loves me, even when I'm grumpy (That always melts my heart AND makes me feel guilty).
Bonus: the Jayhawks played their first game tonight and won!

Month of Thanks
So it's November. Already?! My birthday is only two weeks away. Sheesh, where has this year gone?!
I'm kicking off this month by participating in a friend's challenge to express more gratitude. Check it out here.
Here goes day 1:
1. I'm thankful that Rick and I are getting away on our own next month. It will be the first time in four and a half years. Happy 10th anniversary to us. And an extra big thanks to my mom for changing her plans to watch the kids that weekend.
2. I love how easily amused and happy Simon is made by a helium balloon.
3. I love the movie "Multiplicity." Michael Keaton is so talented. It makes me laugh every time.
4. I'm thankful for fun lunchtime conversations with Piper while Simon naps. I love hearing what she has to say and about her dreams.
5. I'm thankful that Piper didn't get too much candy on Saturday. That way I'm not as tempted to steal it.
